Use Virtual Cards

Learn more about virtual cards and how to use them.

Introduction

Virtual cards are just like your physical credit cards. You can charge your virtual card just like a physical card using your existing merchant account.

If your Coupa customer supports virtual card payments, you can choose to be paid using virtual cards when you set up your legal entities. For more information, see Set Up Legal Entities. Virtual cards can be used to make invoice payments and PO payments.

Whenever you get paid by virtual card, you will receive an email with the remittance information. You can then access the card two different ways:

  • Through the secure email sent to you.
  • Directly through the Coupa Supplier Portal (CSP).

Once you receive your virtual card, you can use the card number, expiry date, and CVV to use it just as you would a physical card.

Receive Virtual Cards by Email

When one of your customers releases a virtual card payment, you receive a secured email containing the card information. Just as you see on a physical card, your virtual card includes the card number, expiration date, and CVV code.

Access Virtual Cards in the CSP

The other way to access your virtual card is directly through the CSP. To do so, your user must have the Payments User role in the CSP. Accessing the card also requires multi-factor authentication, which must be configured for your user before accessing the card details.

  1. Go to your Payments page and find the relevant payment.
  2. Click the Payment # to open the payment details, then scroll down to the View Card Details section.
  3. Click the View Card link. This prompts you to authenticate, after which you can access your virtual card.
