Tax Registration FAQ
Register your tax information when creating a CSP account or when using the CSP.
Introduction
Tax registration is required when you create a Coupa Supplier Portal (CSP) account or if you already have a CSP account.
FAQ
Why is this change required?
Tax registration is a unique business identifier that lets your customers have more confidence that they are transacting with the correct business. This is required to prevent fraud and ensure the continued security of the CSP. Providing this information also helps to streamline any processes that require tax registration.
How is the tax registration data used?
Currently, the tax registration information is used to help new CSP users join existing accounts for their company. It also supports more intelligent merge suggestions to help consolidate duplicate CSP accounts. Tax registration information is not publicly visible and is not shared with your customers without your consent.
How do I add my tax registration information?
The CSP Profile page has a new Tax Registration section. Provide your Primary Country/Region for your tax ID, and then add your Tax ID, for example, for the United States a 9 digit number issued by the IRS: TIN (companies), EIN (individuals - preferred), or SSN (individuals). The tooltip on the Tax Registration field also gives you basic guidance on the specific ID required for your selected country. For more information, see Tax Registration.
What if I have multiple tax registrations?
The Tax Registration section allows you to add multiple tax registrations to your profile. Ensure that you include any tax registrations that you want to use for invoicing or other processes in the CSP.
What if I don’t have a tax ID or I don’t want to provide one?
That’s okay! You can select the I do not have a Tax ID checkbox and provide a reason for not entering a tax ID. You can log in to the CSP as usual without getting a notification to register your tax information.
What if I tried to provide a tax registration but was unable to?
Ensure that you provide the correct tax ID type for your selected country. Currently, a single ID type is supported for each country. If you do not have the specific ID that is supported, use the I do not have a Tax ID option.
Does this change affect the other features of the CSP?
No. The other CSP features are not affected by this change.
